Michael McArthy Award
Michael represented Felling for several years and showed rich promise captaining the junior sides at all age groups. Renowned for his dedication to the game and backed up by his undoubted natural talent it was of therefore no surprise to anyone associated with the club when he became one of the youngest players to ever represent the 1st XI making his debut at the tender age of just 15.
In 1998 Michael proudly enlisted with the Royal Navy and in August 2001 he was posted to the HMS Manchester as a Marine Engineering Mechanic, a post he served with great vigour and distinction. Tragically on the 25th October 2003 while serving on a tour of duty to the Caribbean the handrail upon which Michael was leaning collapsed and he fell from a boat suffering fatal injuries.
Michael is a great loss to Felling Cricket Club his discipline, dedication and enthusiasm towards the game remains his lasting legacy and will ensure he is a role model for all our juniors past, present and future.
The Michael McCarthy award is the most prestigious of all our club awards. It is presented to the Junior player of the season on an annual basis by a member of Michaels family.
