Coaching Hub
The Felling Junior Academy is at the heart of our club, supporting boys and girls aged 7 to 19 to develop their cricketing skills, confidence, and love of the game. Our junior programme is inclusive, fun, and structured, providing a pathway from beginner players through to competitive age-group cricket, all within a friendly and welcoming environment.
By joining Felling Cricket Club's coaching and training programmes, you'll gain improved skills and techniques, increased confidence, and a deeper understanding of the game. Players also benefit from enhanced physical fitness, teamwork skills, and the opportunity to build lasting friendships within our cricket community.
Year-Round Coaching
Junior coaching takes place all year round, led by ECB Level 3 Senior Coach Ron Young and supported by 15 fully qualified and vetted coaches. Summer sessions run outdoors at our home ground on Friday evenings, while winter sessions are held indoors, ensuring development continues regardless of the season. All sessions follow ECB Safe Hands guidelines to prioritise safety and a positive learning experience.

Summer Coaching Schedule
Location: Felling Cricket Club, High Heworth Lane
Day: Friday evenings throughout the Summer months

One-to-One Coaching
Our one-to-one programme is suitable for players aged 7 and over and participants can choose from batting, wicket keeping, seam bowling or spin bowling to focus on during their 60-minute slot.
Siblings are able to share the session between them.
Individual coaching sessions can be arranged with our overseas player/coach during the summer months. These sessions provide specialist, tailored coaching for the individual player at £20 per hour.

All Stars Cricket
All Stars Cricket is the perfect introduction to cricket for new beginners aged 5 to 8. Designed to be fun, safe, and engaging, the programme helps children develop basic cricket skills, coordination, and confidence through enjoyable activities and games.
It’s a fantastic way for young players to make friends, stay active, and begin their cricket journey in a welcoming, supportive environment.

Our Coaches
DIRECTOR OF COACHING (ECB LEVEL 3)
Ron Young
Ron Young is a highly respected ECB Level 3 qualified cricket coach with more than 40 years of experience across elite, community and disability cricket. He has coached numerous Durham County junior teams, and spent 15 years as National Coach of England’s Deaf cricket team.
Ron has played a significant role in the development of many top county players and has shown outstanding long-term commitment to the Durham Cricket Board Coaches Association. He has also worked as Disability Cricket Development Manager for Durham CCC and founded the region’s first visually impaired cricket team.
He remains actively involved in coaching, tutoring and assessing, and has recently retrained to ensure his knowledge and skills remain fully up to date.
Ron has also held head coach roles at Premier League clubs including Gateshead Fell, Sunderland and Hetton Lyons, and we are delighted to have him at the club.
