Gateshead East Ladies

Felling Cricket Club is proud to be at the forefront of growing women’s and girls’ cricket in Gateshead. Cricket is one of the fastest-growing sports for women and girls across the UK, and we’re committed to creating opportunities for players of all ages and abilities to get involved. In partnership with our neighbours at Bill Quay Cricket Club, we’ve launched the  Gateshead East Ladies & Girls section, a welcoming space for learning, playing, and enjoying cricket in a friendly, inclusive environment.

Your First Steps in Cricket

Our women’s and girls’ cricket programs are designed for complete beginners. No experience? No problem! Everyone starts somewhere, and our sessions focus on fun, social engagement, and building confidence. Whether you want to pick up a bat for the first time or are looking to develop your skills, there’s a place for you here.

All Ladies and Girls cricket is played with a soft ball, so there’s no need to worry about pads or protective gear.

Ladies Cricket

Our Ladies team is all about enjoyment and participation. Starting with indoor soft-ball cricket in January, sessions will feature short-format games and glow-in-the-dark soft-ball matches — a fun and low-pressure introduction to the sport. As the team grows, friendly soft-ball fixtures will be organised to give players a chance to experience match play in a supportive setting.

Girls Cricket

We’re also excited to announce our junior girls’ program for 2026:

  • Under 11 Girls – Playing on Sunday mornings in Countdown soft-ball cricket. Games are short, fast-paced, and designed to be fun, keeping young players engaged and active.

  • Under 13 Girls – Competing in soft-ball tournaments across the North East. These fixtures provide an opportunity to travel, play against other teams, and develop cricketing skills in a friendly, competitive environment.

Our Commitment

At Felling Cricket Club, we are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive pathway for women and girls in cricket. Our programs are designed not just to teach cricket skills, but also to foster friendships, confidence, and a sense of community. Whether you’re looking for a new sport, a social activity, or the excitement of playing in a team, you’ll find a welcoming home with us
